1. Bottomless Closet
Bottomless Closet is a charity that helps empower New York City women enter the workforce and achieve success, providing them with the tools and resources they need to get back on their feet. They’re on the lookout for any and all donations of plus-size women’s professional clothing, specifically in sizes 18-30—that includes suits, separates, and dresses. They’re also in need of shoe sizes 7-10 (and up), and especially looking for half sizes. If you live in the tristate area, you may drop off your donations at their location during dropoff hours. If you’re not in NYC, you can pop your donations in the mail or organize a donation drive on their behalf.
2. Working Wardrobes
Working Wardrobes helps countless people throughout Southern California overcome difficult challenges, from alcohol and substance abuse to domestic violence, incarceration, homelessness, catastrophic illness, traumatic financial loss, and transitioning from military service to the civilian workforce. They help with workforce readiness and partner with corporations, educational programs, community agencies, and civic partners. Plus sizes are always their greatest needed items, so if you live in Southern California, drop off your gently used clothing on hangers to their offices. If you’re not local, feel free to mail your donations in.
3. Dress For Success
Dress For Success is an international not-for-profit organization that empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire, and the development tools to help women thrive in work and life. They have expressed a particular need for women’s plus-size clothing, business-appropriate footwear in sizes 9 and above, and handbags. Find your local Dress For Success affiliate on their website by clicking on “Find Your Local Affiliate” in the top right-hand corner, and choose your state and the nearest city to discover where to donate your professional clothing.
