There’s no denying that inclusivity was one of the buzzwords of 2018. From fashion industry efforts to plus-size representation in media, this past year brought a lot of progress to the world of body positivity. But if you ask us, what’s blown us away even more is seeing you, the Dia Community, evolve your style and continue to support one another day after day. To celebrate an incredible year with you, we’ve rounded up some of the major community milestones from 2018. Keep reading to remember every moment.
You styled amazing outfits all year long.
Throughout the year, you shared your favorite looks with our community and showed off your amazing unique style. From #MyDiaStyle posts to photos in the Dia&Co National Community Facebook group, there’s no shortage of ways to discover new outfit pairings and inspire your own future ensembles.
The Facebook community group was born.
In February of this year, we launched a special Facebook group to create an online home for the women in our community. Since then, thousands of Dia&Co customers—and non-customers alike!—have joined for a supportive space to talk style, life, and career. Each week, we add even more people to the conversation, so head here and request to join!
You shared your stories in new ways.
With the launch of the P.S., the Dia&Co blog in March and the next wave of Style Journey videos, 2018 brought even more ways for you to tell your stories. Here are just a few of our favorite soundbites…
“You don’t have to be frumpy if you’re fluffy.”
Michele H.
“Now I can prance around my house in a dress and feel like her—feel like Gianna.”
Gianna B.
“I have stepped out from behind the camera to in front of the camera.
Stephenie B.
And it’s all because of the confidence I feel in the clothes I have on.”
You joined our first-ever ambassador program.
Back in July, we launched the Dia Domino program as a way to continue to spark radical self-love through style. We invited our first round of Dominos to take charge as leaders in our community—and we’re just getting started.
theCURVYcon reached new levels.
We got to meet many of you in person in September at theCURVYcon in New York and in June at theCURVYcon Games in LA! Both events saw the Dia Community and leading voices in plus-size fashion and wellness gather together in one space to celebrate body positivity.
The Dia Community met up offline.
Community members are joining together to organize in-person gatherings where style lovers can shop for great plus-size clothes, explore new cities, build new memories, and bring online connections into the real world.
One of our Dia Dominos, Laura Mokelke, loved our community so much that she organized the biggest meet-up of the year—a trip to Nashville. Here’s what she had to say about the event…
I wanted this trip because I love this community. It didn’t matter if we just met or had been chatting online for weeks or months—we left as the closest of friends.
Now that 2018’s coming to a close, it’s time to look ahead to another year of great style and an even greater community. Thank you to each and every one of you for making this a year to remember. We can’t wait to see what 2019 brings!
