The Little Black Dress, more affectionately known as the LBD, is a timeless must-have in every wardrobe. Personally, my favorite LBD is a sleeveless scoop neck with a chic slit and ruching on the hip. I’ve worn it for countless occasions, dressing it up or down to fit any event. As we approach fall, I can’t imagine parting with my beloved plus-size little black dress, and guess what? I don’t have to, and neither do you! Black is the epitome of versatility; all you need is a little bit of creativity to make it work for any season. I’ve come up with four simple ways to transition my LBD into the upcoming season, ensuring that it remains a staple in my closet for months to come. Stay tuned for my tips and tricks so you don’t have to give your LBD this fall either.
Layer It Up
Fall is the season for layering, and your LBD can be an excellent base for your layered outfit. You can layer your dress with a plus-size moto jacket, blazer, or cardigan. You can also pair it with a long-sleeved tee or a turtleneck sweater for a chic and cozy look. Or, try layering your LBD with a completely sheer long-sleeve tee for a trendy fall upgrade.
Add Texture
Adding texture to your outfit can make your LBD look more fall-appropriate. Pair it with a chunky knit scarf, suede or leather boots, or a faux fur vest. Opaque tights are another way to add contrast to your little black dress for a more autumnal feel. The added fabric texture will make your outfit more interesting and keep you warm during chilly fall evenings.
Elevate Your Accessories
Accessories are a quick and easy way to transition your little balck dress into fall. Swap your summery sandals for ankle boots or closed-toe pumps. You can also add tights or leggings to your outfit for a warm and stylish look. A statement necklace or earrings will also elevate your outfit.
Play with Colors
Fall is all about warm and earthy tones. You can add a pop of fall color to your LBD by pairing it with a rust-colored scarf or an olive-green jacket. Bold reds, pinks and blues are also trending for fall 2023, so don’t be afraid take a walk on the bright side! Or, opt for a colored clutch or handbag to add a touch of fall to your outfit.
With these simple tips, you can easily transition your plus-size LBD to fall and keep wearing it for months to come. Don’t be afraid to get creative and experiment with different textures, colors, and accessories. Remember, fashion should be fun, and you should always wear what makes you feel good.
