From stylists to engineers, and graphic designers to customer experience associates, there are so many passionate people behind the style magic at Dia&Co. In this monthly series, we’ll introduce you to the team, one by one.
Next up: Kayla Klein!
What do you do at Dia&Co?
I’m a Social Media Lead! That means I make sure our Social Media Associates have everything they need to answer the questions coming in on our community and social media platforms. Feel free to say hi to us when you tune in to our next Facebook Live or send us an Instagram DM!
What’s your favorite part about your job?
To put it simply, Dia&Co inspires me! Providing the best possible experience for our customers and my team brings me so much joy. We are serving a community that I am a part of—one that’s been underserved for so long. I love being able to constantly think of new ways to make all of our Dia ladies happy! Also, Dia&Co has pushed me in ways I didn’t even think were possible. This job has played a huge part in giving me the confidence to be the best boss-babe version of myself.
Who’s your style icon?
I feel like Vanessa Hudgens doesn’t get enough credit for her super cute, boho-chic style! I also follow A LOT of amazing fashion bloggers on Instagram for inspiration. Tezza, Sarah Tripp, and Helen Anderz are three of my faves!
How would you define your style?
I’d say millennial-mom vibes with a ’70s, rock-and-roll twist. I’m an old soul who isn’t afraid to throw in some sass.
Let’s say you have something really important planned. What do you wear?
It really depends! If I’m about to pitch a big new project idea, I’d wear my go-to striped jumpsuit. Maybe it’s date night—I’d wear my favorite red dress with a sweetheart neckline. If it’s our yearly holiday party, then I’d go for one of my velvet dresses, paired with a leather jacket and sparkly shoes. For a high school reunion (my 10-year’s coming up soon 😬), I’d wear my little black skater dress. No matter what the occasion, you will most likely see me in block heels and statement earrings.
You have an amazing one-year-old daughter. How has being a mom changed your relationship to style?
I used to get really cool art painted on my nails every three weeks, wake up early to do my hair and makeup, and never repeat an outfit. I would get really bent out of shape if I wasn’t completely put together. But as I reflect now, being comfortable and taking care of my body, mind, and spirit is so much more important to me. My “mom uniform” saves me time, which is so valuable these days. My appearance has become much less of a priority now that I’m a mom. It isn’t that I don’t care about how I look anymore—I still do. It’s just much easier to have a go-to look to fall back on in the morning. I’ve really started to embrace athleisure. I love sweats with a block heel or cotton dresses with sneakers. Lucky for me, those looks are both very trendy now!
What’s your final touch before you walk out the door?
I usually do one last hair flip and spray on some perfume or body mist. Currently, I’m loving the Love Beauty and Planet coconut body mist.
When do you feel the most confident?
When the outfit I planned in my head looks just as good as I imagined on my body. I also love when I can take the time to pamper myself. I feel unstoppable after a one-hour shower, eyebrow wax, hair blowout, and a full makeup look.
What are the words you live by?
“If you are not willing to risk the usual, you will have to settle for the ordinary.” With so many people in the world willing to be “normal” or “settle,” it leaves that much more room for me to be extraordinary—and to inspire other people, too.
What’s your idea of the perfect Sunday afternoon?
Picture this: Driving to the beach with my family, the windows are all down and we’re singing along to the Beatles’ greatest hits. Then, swimming in the ocean and taking pictures of my daughter playing in the sand. During lunchtime, we take a break from soaking up the sun to go eat boardwalk cheesesteaks (seriously, THE best), then end the day watching fireworks and drinking rum buckets. Making memories, dancing, laughing until our bellies hurt, and living our best lives.
Where’s your happy place this season?
Sleepy Hollow, NY. Halloween is my favorite holiday and this town is so marvelously spooktacular. They have haunted hayrides, Gothic mansions, blazing pumpkins, farmers’ markets, live music, street fairs, parades, and, of course, the Headless Horseman. I love it!
One of our office’s most popular snacks is cereal. What’s your favorite kind?
The magically delicious choice: Lucky Charms!
