Needless to say, 2021 has been an eventful year. From the good to the bad and sometimes ugly it’s all played out in front of our very eyes on social media. So it wouldn’t be right for us to close out 2021 without chiming in with some of our most memorable social media moments. Here are the top five moments that made us say “Okay!?” in 2021.
#1 Jonah Hill
That time Jonah Hill put us all in our place and gave us the perfect comeback for our judgey relatives right before the holiday season. Need we say more? I think Jonah said it all.
#2 Remi Bader’s “Realistic Clothing Hauls”
We all owe Remi a personal thank you for demystifying shopping online. With more and more brands rolling out extended sizing and inclusive sizing, sometimes it’s hard to tell what you are really going to get once you hit “place order”. We are here for her realistic clothing hauls.
#3 Katie Sturino SuperSizeThatLook
We just can’t get enough of Katie Sturino supersizing some of the hottest looks. Ever wondered how to style straight leg jeans or what a Hailey Beiber or a Padma Lakshmi outfit would like on a size 18/20? Well Katie’s got you covered. And it doesn’t stop there, she’s calling out fashion brands like Bottega Veneta in her #MakeMySize campaign to make clothes and accessories that work for plus size women. Katie, we salute you.
#4 Lizzo Being Vulnerable
Lizzo is living proof that sometimes a good cry is necessary. This year the singer let us into a vulnerable moment, and we couldn’t help but feel where she was coming from. These past couple of years haven’t been easy. But what Lizzo learned is true for all of us: there are people out there who see you and love you.
#5 Plus-Size Women On Reality TV Dating Shows
That’s right, we said it, where are all the women who wear above a size 10 on reality tv? I mean if more than half of the women in the U.S. wear a size 14 or higher there have got to be some out there looking for love, no? And as it turns out, our community was thinking the same thing. We’ll keep waiting for the representation we deserve.
