Cooler temperatures may just be slowly rolling in, yet at Dia&Co fall fashion is in full force. Autumn is hands down my favorite season. There is something about that crispy cool air that brings a smile to my face, probably because layering is finally a styling option again.
And when it comes to fall fashion sweaters are the essential cold-weather layering piece. They are great not only to keep you warm, but they can also be great statement pieces for styling. Here are a few of our newest styles featured in our latest collection from Molly & Isadora, one of our most loved Dia&Co brands for you to consider as you look for some new pieces for your seasonal wardrobe.
90’s Style Layering: Fran Flat Knit Gingham Tank Sweater and Cardigan
If there is one thing that fall style 2021 has made clear is that the 90s are back as evident with the Fran Flat Knit Gingham Tank Sweater and Open Front Cardigan set. These effortless feminine and chic pieces can be styled together, paired with plus-size skinny jeans and a crossbody bag, or separately as the burgundy and white check pattern provides room to play with the styling.
To play up the classic preppy style, layer the tank over your favorite white button up blouse and tuck both into a black skater skirt, add a color-coordinated headband, black tights with loafers and you have a look, à la Cher from Clueless that will turn some heads.
The cardigan can be worn over a white mock neck tank, providing all the fun of layering without the additional bulk. Tuck the tank into some dark wash high waist skinny jeans, add a belt, a long strand necklace, some flats and a crossbody bag and you’re ready to take on that major work presentation in style.
Ski Lodge Style: The Iduna Fair Isle Pullover
When it comes to sweaters, the fair isle print is iconic. With origins dating back to the 19th century, this geometric print sweater was a style sported by Scottish fishermen, before gaining popularity among members of the British Royal family in the 1920s beginning with Prince Edward; decades later Princess Diana would also incorporate fairisle pieces within her wardrobe, since then these sweaters have become mainstream, going as far as becoming a traditional holiday staple.
Being equal parts stylish and warm, the Iduna sweater is a must have style that will get you through fall and beyond. The neutral palette and relaxed fit make it the perfect stylish plus-size sweater for an upcoming trip to a ski lodge with the family. Simply pair it with some fleece lined plus-size leggings and combat boots for a walk in the crisp fall evening. Or if you seek a more fashion forward/street style look, consider pairing it with your favorite pair of wide leg denim and heeled booties.
Classic Oversize Knits: Anais Slouchy V-neck Sweater
As the saying goes – you can’t beat the classics. And if there is one thing pieces like the Anais Slouchy V-neck Sweater are great for, it’s easy laying and wear that also provides fun style with wearable comfort.
It should come as no surprise then that I find that this sweater works great for lounging, however, with some faux leather plus-size leggings, or your favorite printed midi skirt, and slouchy boots you can just as easily go from spending the afternoon binge watching your favorite fall movies at home to running out to handle some errands in style.
That being said, I totally understand that when it comes to oversized sweaters some of us may want to stay away from oversized options for concern about “looking bigger.” For this I have one solution that has worked for me, simply tuck the front of the sweater into some light wash straight leg denim to balance proportions of the look. Or dress up the sweater with a detachable lace collar, paired with a denim skirt, an animal print belt, newsboy hat, heeled wide calf knee high boots and clutch handbag for a dressy leisure look for a fall date night.
